The Markets

Stocks continued to grind higher on Monday, punching out a mildly positive return, as the dog days of summer remain conducive for a mellow trend.  The S&P 500 Index gained just over a quarter of one percent, making another attempt at surpassing the all-time closing high charted in February.  Technology and consumer discretionary stocks topped the leaderboard, while energy, financial, and industrial stocks closed in the red.
