The Markets
Stocks pushed further into record-high territory as investors continue to focus on areas of the market that will benefit from an economic reopening. The S&P 500 Index gained three-quarters one percent, lifted by airline, resource, and bank stocks. Intermediate support for the large-cap benchmark remains intact at the rising 50-day moving average, while short-term support at the 20-day moving average has been retaken. Momentum indicators continue to show characteristics of a bullish trend. Volume in the market has fallen off slightly in the past few days, indicating that investor excitement around current levels has faded as opportunities dry up.
Today, in our Market Outlook to subscribers, we discuss the following:
- New all-time highs for the Canadian market and whether or not now is the time to rotate to the formerly underperforming market
- Oil & Gas Exploration and Production stocks
- A notable change of rating for a much beloved investment in our weekly chartbooks
