The Markets
Stocks closed mixed again on Tuesday as investors jockey for position ahead of the off-season for stocks through the months ahead. The S&P 500 Index slipped by two-thirds of one percent, closing around its rising 20-day moving average. Reaction to the upper limit of the rising intermediate trend-channel that spans between 4025 and 4250 remains obvious. Momentum indicators continue to point lower following sell signals that were triggered in the past couple of weeks.
Today, in our Market Outlook to subscribers, we discuss the following:
- Why you don’t want to abandon the technology sector entirely at this time of year and where we expect buying demand to return, plus the industry groups to pursue when it does
- US Factory Orders; what is driving the activity and the areas of the market it suggests portfolio exposure is warranted
- Vehicle sales in the US and what they have to say about investing in the stocks of auto companies

Sentiment on Tuesday, as gauged by the put-call ratio, ended mildly bullish at 0.86.
