The Markets
Stocks closed mildly higher on Thursday as strength in the reopening trades kept major benchmarks supported. The S&P 500 Index gained just over one-tenth of one percent, remaining steady just above its 20-day moving average. Intermediate support remains intact at the rising 50-day moving average, which closely follows the lower limit of its rising trend channel. The rising range is bound by 4100 on the low side and 4300 on the high side. MACD crossed marginally above its signal line during the Thursday session in what is a renewed buy signal. Momentum indicators continue to hold above their middle lines, characteristic of a bullish trend.
