The Markets
Stocks closed mixed on Friday following a much weaker than expected read of payroll growth for the month of August. The S&P 500 Index shed less than a tenth of one percent, still pressuring the mid-point to the approximately 200-point rising range that can be seen between 4425 and 4625. The lower limit of the span continues to border the rising 50-day moving average, which has presented an ideal hurdle for traders to ratchet up their exposure to stocks since the year began. Momentum indicators, while still showing characteristics of a bullish trend, are no longer trending higher, indicative of the waning interest towards stocks at these market heights.
