Announcing a major update to the Seasonal Chart Database
Over the past month we have brought together our proprietary set of seasonal tools to make some exciting additions to the seasonal chart database. They include the following:
- New seasonal profiles
Previously the seasonal chart database included seasonal profiles of around one thousand of the most actively traded equities listed primarily in Canada and the US. The profile count now sits in the thousands, including all liquid securities listed on the TSX, TSX Venture, NYSE, and NASDAQ with at least five years of historical data associated with them. These new profiles allow for a broader gauge of the tendencies influencing the sectors and industries of the market.
- Return of the seasonal test
The seasonal test was a very popular feature in our seasonal profiles a few years ago that unfortunately had to be discontinued due to the resources required to maintain them. They have now been brought back and are better than ever. The seasonal test is an exhaustive study of all of the possible buy and sell date combinations to derive a seasonal holding period that realizes the highest frequency of success and best return versus the market benchmark. This timeframe is then compared to the period of seasonal strength for the sector to provide an analysis of how well the two periods correlate. This provides a very powerful tool that allows investors to “look-through” the charts to obtain optimal and precise periods in which the highlighted security has performed above the market return over the historical timeframe identified.
- Addition of seasonal economic charts
The seasonal economic report analysis has become a very popular feature on EquityClock.com and now the charts can be accessed through the chart database. Â Monthly economic reports often contain many more categories than we can fit into the daily reports, but with the chart database you can see them all, providing a complete view of the performance of the economy, from a seasonal perspective. Â New charts will be added as the reports are released.
These are just a few of the updates to what has become an important tool for security analysis used by hundreds of thousands investors around the globe.
