US Retail Sales for April

 

Retail sales were surprisingly strong in April as the front-running of the imposition of tariffs and Easter holiday spending had consumers out and spending. 

Retail sales slipped by 0.3% (NSA) in this spring month, coming in ahead of the 2.5% decline that is average at this time of year (2.0% decline average when April of 2020 is excluded). Read our analysis of US Retail Sales, as well as the investment implications within: US Retail Sales
